As mentioned in a previous roundup, one of the projects that’s been consuming a lot of my time of late is the forthcoming video game, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. This behemoth of a project is currently in closed beta, as the amazingly talented team at Fatshark polish up the game ready for launch. The latest trailer has been causing quite a stir, for sure, and you can watch it here.

It’s been an absolute joy to be part of the narrative team on this game. The creative powerhouses, Dan Abnett and Mat Ward, have built a really solid, living, breathing corner of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Originally, I was brought on to write dialogue (or VO) for some of the many characters in the game, but since then I’ve ended up getting involved pretty heavily in everything from mission descriptions to the names of custom camo patterns for your character’s gear. There’s a staggering amount of unique script in this game – I’ve genuinely never seen anything quite like it – and I think players are going to love how immersive it all is.

You can take a peek behind the curtain of the scripting and voice talent process here.

And the game is now up for pre-order on X-Box and Steam here.

Until next time: Stay sharp, Rejects!
